How to entertain your little ones after school

Kids seem to have a never-ending source of energy. This is probably why, despite the amount of fun and games our little ones get up to at school, they still want to run around and play when they get home.

Unlike our kids, we might not have a never-ending stream of entertainment ideas. Not to worry though, we’re here to help! In this guide, you’ll find some great ideas for entertaining your little ones after school:

Go Outside: Provided the weather isn’t entirely horrible, the outdoors offers so many ways to entertain your kids. If you have a dog, why not take everyone for a walk to explore a nearby park? If there is a playground near you, let your kids climb and play! Simply having a ball or kite can provide hours of entertainment for your kids outside.

Watch the Right Cartoons: Many parents hope to avoid the eventual screen addiction of their kids for as long as possible. Screen time doesn’t have to be a bad thing though. It’s a matter of choosing the right content. Conventional kids TV can be helpful, but it’s filled with ads for products that your kids will inevitably be begging you for. Streaming services are great, but you may not be able to afford every single one.

Perhaps you should consider free kids cartoons on YouTube instead? There are minimal ads, they won’t break your budget, and they will provide some valuable lessons for your children in a fun way!

Arts and Crafts: Again, if the weather isn’t on your side, arts and crafts is a great source of entertainment. The best part is that the younger your kids are, the fewer items you need. A couple of crayons or bright pens and some paper can help any child find their inner Picasso.

Other kids may want to make something, which is where things like playdough or slime come in handy as they can build new things over and over again. If you’re looking for inspiration, you could ask them to make something in the house, or perhaps an artistic representation of you? Don’t be afraid to get creative!

Organize a playdate: Provided it’s done so safely, a playdate can be a great way to entertain your kids! When kids come together, they have the gift of coming up with ideas all by themselves. This means not only will they be entertained, but you’ll be freed up to relax or do other things as they enjoy themselves.

Play a game: We’re sure that you know this already, but kid’s love games! There are simple classics like hide-and-seek and duck-duck-goose, or board games that kids will love. For something a bit more creative, why not build a blanket fort that you can explore together? The possibilities are endless!
